Some of our favorite jobs aren't for a business at all. This one was a birthday gift — a custom beanie for Natalie — and we had a genuinely good time helping get it just right.

A gift piece gets the same process as a company order. The design is digitized for knit fabric specifically, because a beanie stretches and moves in ways a structured cap never will — stitch density and underlay have to account for that or the design puckers.

We walked through the customization together: placement, thread color, how the design sits when the cuff is folded. That back-and-forth at the counter is the part we'd never automate. When someone's putting their name on a gift, they should get to see and approve exactly what's coming.
